Sewing Pattern Paper Sculpture Commissions

Welcome to Paperteer - where discarded materials are transformed into unique works of art. As a Perth-based artist, I create handcrafted sculptures using vintage sewing pattern paper that tell stories with silent strength.

About My Work

I create one-of-a-kind sculptures using vintage sewing pattern paper - materials that once had a specific purpose and are now given new life through art. Each sculpture represents the often untold stories of women's history, creating a bridge between the past and present.

  • Framed paper sculptures

  • Sculptures displayed under glass cloches

  • Free-standing sculptures

FAQ

Q: How long does a commission typically take?
A: Depending on complexity and my current workload, most sculptures take 3-4 weeks to complete. Larger or more intricate pieces may require additional time.

Q: Are your sculptures made from actual vintage sewing patterns?
A: Yes! I work with authentic vintage sewing pattern paper, which gives each piece its unique character and aged aesthetic.

Q: Can I commission a specific subject or theme?
A: Absolutely! I've created sculptures featuring various subjects including wildlife, botanical elements, architectural features, and abstract designs. I'm open to discussing your vision.

Q: How fragile are the paper sculptures?
A: The sculptures are delicate by nature, but when properly displayed (especially in frames or cloches) and kept away from moisture and direct handling, they will last for many years.

Q: Do you create sculptures larger than 30 cm?
A: Yes, larger sculptures are possible but require special consideration regarding structural integrity and display options. These are quoted on a case-by-case basis.

Q: Can I commission a sculpture as a gift?
A: Paper sculptures make wonderful unique gifts! I'm happy to work with you on timeline planning and can provide gift packaging if needed.

Q: How should I care for my paper sculpture?
A: Keep your sculpture away from direct sunlight, moisture, and high humidity. Avoid touching the paper directly. Framed pieces and cloches provide the best protection.
